Candy Shop and Party Time at Club KennyK

Club KennyK are celebrating 1000 members this weekend with contests and a colouring competition, so what better time to come and join us?

I am joining the celebration with a frame card using three wonderful Kenny K images: Harper Blue, Ginger Gem and Candy Shop background.  This is the first time I have coloured up a background image.  I used pencils to give a muted look and some texture.

I coloured the girls using Promarkers (Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Almond, Raw Sienna, Mustard, Tulip, Buttercup, Henna, Cocoa, Sandstone, Bright Green, Lime Green, Purple Amethyst, Lilac, Bright Orange, Mango, Burnt Sienna, Caramel, Rose Pink, Pink  Carnation, Blossom, True Blue, Sky Blue & Arctic Blue)

I attached Harper Blue to the Candy Shop background using 3D foam squares.

To make the frame, I cut Core'dinations Glittersilk card to fit the background then cut acetate to attach behind.

I added 3D foam tape to the back of this to raise it above the Harper Blue image once it was attached.

I attached the Ginger Gem image on top of the frame using 3D foam squares to give even more dimension.

I made a frame stand using another card I had as a guide for the shape.

And here is the final piece...

I would like to enter my frame into the folowing challenges:

Party Time with Kit & Clowder

Having started to use Promarkers in the beginning of 2014, I used them for less than a year before I had another baby and moved abroad.  I didn't really do any crafting for the whole of 2015 then started blogging again in May 2016.  So I didn't really gain any confidence or skills in colouring with markers.
I had been looking at tutorials and step-by-steps on Pinterest, but then I discovered Kit & Clowder when I found out about their free class for colouring roses. I joined the Facebook group and saw some amazing work from people who had taken the online classes. I uploaded some photos of digis I had coloured and got some lovely feedback so I entered the new colouring challenge and won a prize!

This weekend Kit & Clowder have been celebrating reaching over 10k members on Facebook with a fabulous 3-day party of features, freebies, discount codes and prizes.  Day 3 has now come to a close, but you can still enter all the giveaways etc until 30th July.  Just click on the pinned post to make sure you don't miss anything.

If you aren't sure about buying a class, there is a fabulous offer on until 30th July - I took advantage of this after working out the value.

If you purchase the Elements of Nature class for $70 AUD (approx $52 USD / £39 GBP) you get $80+ worth of digital images plus the Lightsource class valued at $15.... already a good deal at $165 value, but for the next week you will also get the Mini Technique Bundle at $40, bring the total value to $205 (approx $153 USD / £116 GBP)

So please check out the party, join the community and have fun colouring

Angel Neveah Luminary

I have the pleasure of being a guest designer over at Club KennyK for the next couple of months, so today I am sharing my first creation for them.

There is a new release today, Christmas Angels - Neveah, Aurora & Seraphina. You can get them as a bundle deal for $8 USD. Pop over to the shop to grab yours.

The theme this challenge is Anything Goes with a twist: Christmas in July. It would be great to see you use one of the new release stamps, but you can use any Kenny K image you like.

I have chosen to make a luminary as I thought it suited the Angel and Christmas theme.  I found a template on Pinterest as haven't made this style of lantern before.
Keeping it fairly simple, I used a mask and Distress Ink (Forest Moss) to decorate the lantern then glued embossed vellum to the apertures before putting it together and closing with ribbon. I then attached the image with 3D foam squares.
Promarkers I have used for the image are: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Buttercup, Tulip Yellow, Mustard, Raw Sienna, Berry, Crimson, Cool Aqua, Duck Egg, Satin and Dusky Pink.

I am entering my lantern into the following challenges:
  1. A Bit More Time To Craft - #24 Anything Goes
  2. Artistic Inspirations - #160 Anything Goes
  3. Come And Get It - Make your own background
  4. Craft Your Passion - #230 Anything Goes

  7. Deep Ocean - #133 Christmas in July

Li'l Pirate Birthday

I don't normally make very fancy cards for children's birthdays, but I have this gorgeous 'L'il Pirate' image from Kenny K Stamps and it's my very own little girl's birthday (so I get to keep this card lol).
I started with a base of bronze card and added a wood plank effect paper right across, as if to be the deck of a ship. I ripped and Distress Inked some burlap postcard paper which I attached at an angle to the bottom left.
Next I ripped and screwed up some Core'dinations Tim Holtz Kraft-Core card, then sanded it to distress.  I know some people are afraid to screw the paper up, but it creates and wonderful worn effect when sanded.  I think the colour I chose actually looks a bit like worn leather.
I attached the coloured image over this plus a Treasure Map image from Meljen's Designs, which is perfect for this theme. (Melissa is now moving in a different direction with her art, so unfortunately her digital images are no longer available to purchase).
I continued by threading some leather thong through a small piece of burlap, which I attached at an angle over the burlap postcard paper. I added my Distress Inked (Vintage Photo) sentiment and finished off with some metal gears and brads.

Promarkers used: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Oatmeal, Saitn, Pastel Beige, Black, Cool Greys 3, 4 & 5, Forest Green, Apple, Buttercup, Tulip Yellow, Mustard, Raw Sienna, Sandstone, Caramel, Burnt Sienna, Cocoa, Lilac, Amethyst, Purple, Aubergine, Berry & Crimson.
Also used: Gold Sharpie

An Underwater Rainbow

It's colouring challenge time over at Kit & Clowder. I've only just joined the group, so this is my first one.
For the challenge Ching Chou Kuik has created a brand new exclusive image called 'Floating Pearls'.  You can get this image for only $1.50 USD if you join the group and enter the challenge.
After colouring a rainbow rose for Alyce's wedding I decided I'd really like to try some rainbow hair. I think the bright colours really suit a mermaid theme.
